Gonia and there is only one widespread species in Africa -

Chris, I was especially impressed by the fact that I observe Gonia at 7N ! Gonia isn't an equatorial genus, isn't it?!

It's a very widely spread genus actually - according to
Jim O'Hara's list of world tachinid genera it is found in all of the geographic zones. I have one from French Guiana so they probably do exist right on the Equator, but they are never really common and I think you just have to be lucky to stumble upon a colony. Where they occur they can be locally common. :)
