Sara,

The Cecidomyiidae sp. laid her eggs in the stub and obviously the very long ovipositor got caught, so now she is trying to pull it out.

Nice images. Probably Xylodiplosis. Extremely elongate larvae live in xylem vessels and females oviposit into cut ends of these with their very long, finely tapered ovipositors.
