I think not, Theo, T. tergestinus should have three bands on eyes and also the shape of flagellum is different, but a part from that I'm completely lost. Are you sure at least is Tabanus?
I can't discard at all Hybomitra (this one was not collected).

How big animal? Bovinus group or bromius group?

Thanks, Libor: aprox. 13 mm. The "frontal index" measured from the last photo (although knowing is not a good way) is 4

Sorry, if is not clear it to be Tabanus, could then be Philipomyia?

No, Philipomyia has linear callus. It is clearly Tabanus from maculicornis group. Maybe T. mikii, but I am not sure... T. mikii has posterior four tibiae brown, your animal probably only on basal half? Theo, where are you? Do you agree with me?

The eyes are bare, so no Hybomitra.

Revive the eyes by putting the specimen in a moist box for 8 - 12 hours.

My bet: you will see 3 eyebands.

The problem is that this one was not collected, and in live it hasn't. Thanks anyway
