Out of interest where did you find the ID? I ask as I have spent months (on and off) looking it. Have to say I was only looking for a match just using the Genus, under Asilidae of course. Still on a big learning curve, slowly, slowly getting there. :D

You're welcome! It is a pity that good literature is hard to find. "De Roofvliegen van Nederland" (Dutch Robber flies) a very useful book by Mark van Veen 1996. Contains keys etc. and covers probably most of Northwest Europe. D. atricapilla is one of the easy species within the genus, legs totally black, males with characteristic blue eyes.
