I agree with Tony, in being it a Chironomidae, but I need a more detailed photo of the headcapsule in ventral view. Is this possible? Although I'm only familiar with the Palaearctic fauna (some of the subfamilies I have never encountered), maybe I can exlude a couple. It is definitely not Tanypodinae and if there are ventromental plates (a pair of striated plates on both sides of the mental teeth) than I can at least exclude Orthocladiinae. Could you also give some more details of the habitat (fresh, brackish, marine, flowing, standing, isolated)?
