I found this larva in 10/23/2010 in dendrothelms on Quercus sp. in Slovakia
is probably
Metriocnemus (Metriocnemus) cavicola Kieffer 1921
or
Metriocnemus (Metriocnemus) eurynotus (Holmgren 1883)
but unfortunately I do not know the differences between them
thanks for help
Jozef

Dear Obonaj
It is Metriocnemus alright and besides the dark posterior claws it resembles M. cavicola very much. M. cavicola is supposed to have yellow claws. For the nomenclature I have asked a dutch expert on this matter (H. Moller) and he says : "...the nomenclature of these species (M. eurynotus/cavicola) is the most problematic in all the larval literature. M. eurynotus are 2 species (probably unidentifyable as an adult)". I think it is save to name it cf. cavicola or cavicola group or something like that.

Dear obonaj
Dutch specimens of larva with yellow claws are called M. cavicola, but it is unknown if eurynotus (or perhaps another species?) has black claws. As far as we can tell both species cannot be separated.
