Edit: perhaps it's not Syrphidae?
OK..i went through all 26 pages of gallery and I did find something close, however, none had a waist that slim! So what is this?
Location: Sungai Tua Recreation Forest, Selangor, Malaysia.
I rotated the image..it was a tree trunk actually

Good to see a dorsal shot here. (Months ago I'd bumped into the nice
lateral oviposition photo on Flickr.)
