Hi
Under normal circumstances I would be perfectly happy if this one was
Gonia ornata but the more I look at it the more I doubt it.
What I'm driving at is of course
Gonia distinguenda.
The hairs on the abdomen are adpressed and the postoculars are thick and straight. Both are different in
ornata. In the matter of the postoculars the Central european key has for
ornata: Postokularzilien fein, die oberen mit ihrer Spitze nach vorn gebogen. And for
distinguenda: Postokularzilien beim Männchen stark, kaum gebogen.
Therefore I'm tending towards
distinguenda. I should add that I've never seen
ornata in the flesh so I have nothing to compare with.
What do you think?
Ornata after all or the much rarer
distinguenda?
The rather worn male specimen was swept from grass on 2. vi 2010 near the coast on the island Amager (NEZ/DK).
Three pictures!
Regards,
