Pollenia is a difficult genus, though there are useful characters in the male and female genitalia. However, unless someone has done the basic work to a high standard (such as that produced by Knut Rognes on the Fennoscandian and other faunas), it is easy to be misled. :(
If you have only a few Pollenia specimens, it is probably easier to send them to an expert for identification, particularly if you are going to publish the results. They may welcome the opportunity to look at material from Jordan, and you will have correctly named material for reference! B)
