Hello to all!
Somehow I overlooked this picture when picking out the Tachinids. About 15mm AFAIR.

19.8.2009, Ecuador, Prov. Tungurahua, Baņos, about 1850m asl

@Chris: So there was actually a day when I found more than one Tachinid, within relatively short time. Since you've been to Baņos already, maybe you know the trail to the mirador Bellavista, which is above the holy bath. That's where I found both of them.

Lovely fly :D

I know the route you mention (we stayed at the big hotel by the baths) but I didn't try it myself - looks like I should have though! :D Instead we tended to explore down the Rio Pastaza valley and look up into the side valleys that come down to the roads. I believe there has been a lot of cutting of forest along those tracks but 15 years ago they were lovely :)
