Location: Valdelinares, Teruel, NE Spain. 1900 meters above sea.
Habitat: Over a flower. In high numbers above different flowers.
Date: Yesterday.
Size: about 6-7 mm.

Another one? But this is much more greyish than the E. gr. semicinerea that I've posted some days ago...

The species complex is, surprise, a complex one and (AFAIK) needs to be sorted comepletely. All Xanthempis with completely grey thorax belong to that complex, even though other colouration may be different.

There is soime literature on species of this group but nothing that covers them all at the same time. There has been a steady flow of new species described in Xanthempis over the past few years, including some in the semicinerea species complex.

Thanks Paul, then is impossible to identify any Empis of this subgenus by image, I imagine...
