Hi,

Thomas Pape has in his book "The Sarcophagidae of Fennoscandia and Denmark" B.borealis as synonyme to B.devia. In our list and in Fauna Europaea they are two separate species. Does anyone know how to separate these two ?

According to Verves and Fauna Europaea we should consider two species next to B. devia:

B. papei / metopiella: descriptions of Verves are confusing: 1982 in Lindner he refers to shape of tp vein and in 1990 he refers to vein r-m. Both are very variabel in shape. Following this approach we could describe several new species.

B. borealis: "Wangen mit 2-3 Reien kurzen Borsten. Helle Bereifung nur im forderen Drittel der Abdominaltergite."(Verves, 1982 in Lindner).

I have not yet ever seen a typical borealis nor a typical papei.
