Hello,

this ~10mm syrphid is from beginning of may from near Cologne. What is it?

Hello Paul,

many thanks for your answer. It seem, that in this region of germany only one species P. frutetorum is known.

Hello,

now I see, that this may be wrong. Perhaps P. versicolor was just not found in North Rhine Westphalie up to this time. But I can't see the difference. Here is another pictures from the side, where the legs are better visible. Does someone know, what species it is?

the face looks rather bulbous so it could be P. versicolor but one should see the colour of the hairs behind the eyes (only yellow hairs in versiolor, intermixed with blackish hairs in frutetorum) and in males one should also see the underside of the base of the 3th femur.
