This was a rather large male, Tabanus sp I guess.

Hybomitra somewhere near distinguenda.
Indication of habitat might help

Thank You! It was photogrpahed at the university of debrecen, near a smaller forest, but generally climate is arid, with plains nearby. I have thes specimen.
