Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Empis tessellata? and a question

Sorry for adding to the already long list of id requests for this sp. (I've checked them all). Assuming this is Empis tessellata (I know you'll correct me), is identification straightforward or are there similar spp. to look out for? The experts never seem to have much trouble even from out of focus shots, but I assume that the key features aren't just 'big, dark and bristly'. Is there anything else to look for?
