i am afraid the situation if far more confused. Of the list you give venusta=circumdata. According to Evenhuis & Greathead 1999 circumdata is an unjustified replacement name for fasciata Meigen, 1804. However, Chandler, 1998 following Francois 1968 decided that the British species formerly known as circumdata Meigen, 1920 should be known as venusta Meigen 1920. The reasoning is that the type of circumdata is a female whereas that of venusta, described on a following page of the same publication, is a male. Make of all that what you will!
