It seems to me that Tachinidas is "a la mode" novadays:o.
Mosc. region, 22 apr, 11-12mm.
I hope that this M1+2 helps easy ID.

Are the eyes really hairy or is that an optical illusion? Can we also have a side view? Thanks

Hmm, Ernestia puparum? :) If it is male it would be interesting to see the genitalia hooked out.

I agree with Chris.
The only think that comes to mind is Ernestia puparum.
However, it is quite atypical, for instance the scutellum is completely dark. My specimens (just a few) are much more reddish.
But I don't have an alternative.
So best guess is dark Ernestia puparum

Don't worry Theo.
It seems that all Tachinidae around my countryhouse are atypicaly dark:D
