Hello flyforum,

This morning I saw this kind of fly near The AmsterdamWoodforest.
My first impression was syrphidae but with a better look it is not.
Looking at the bristles(?)/spines(?) on the end of the scutellum and further some heavy metatarsers(3) it fits more to Dilophus sp.(male) I think..

Penthetria sp. does not have eyes like these (male eyes does't stick together)

I don't see any spines on the frontal leg (not Bibio), the antenna is quite long and strong.
Legs shows a bit yellow/light braun and black.
size ~ 7-8 mm

greetings, Robert Heemskerk

This looks like one of the first Beris chalybata of this year. A soldier fly.
