Collecting in tundra isn't easy. Photo abouve shows Culicidae around my head, but there was even worse families - Tabanidae (sorry Stephen), Simulidae and Ceratopogonidae - altougether it has Russian name "gnus". When you work 1 year in such conditions it counts as two year.

last week i have been in Retezat and now (still after a week) all my legs and arm are full of scratches becuse of the bite of simuliids. so staying one year... still skin there ? ;)
