Wow, one of the earlier mysteries solved. We had some discussion about this fly earlier. This fly was also observed on the shore in Japan!

Furthermore there is only one species of Hecamede described in Japan.

So my image is likely to show: Hecamede albicans (Meigen, 1830)!
