Many thanks Henrik. The fly does match images for Spgostylum tripunctatum well, and a very similar fly found on Corfu was thought likely to be this species by David Gibbs a few years ago https://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=41357. This link https://www.gbif.org/species/1669858 shows a few other records in Greece and up the Adriatic coast, but it doesn't seem to be regularly recorded. It was among limestone rocks on a wild rocky headland NE of Acharavi - where I found many interesting insects.
