pseudoinusta does not seem to be present in France, so it should be inusta :)
Thanks a lot John.

Minettia pseudoinusta is found in the Pyrenees.

Do you have a more accurate location ?
I found mention only for Spain.

"So far only the Iberian Peninsula up to the Pyrenees. And yes, genitalia are different. Rest assured, in Germany only inusta. In fully coloured specimens inusta has darkened fore tarsi, contrary to pseudoinusta."

For the Pyrenees record I rely on
https://diptera.i...d_id=77872. It is unstated which side of the border the fly was on.
I have seen many maps of fly distribution showing a species common along the southern border of Canada but absent from adjacent USA. Such maps show collecting habits, not distribution. If
Minettia pseudoinusta is found in the Pyrenees of Spain it is probably found in the Pyrenees of France. Whether it continues north into the lowlands I can't say.

According to the author mail adress it should be a spanish obs.
Pyrennees are a 3000m high boundary between France and Spain.
A lot of Spanish species are not present in France.

I refrained from replying because I simply so not know which
Minettia it is. The
inusta group makes sense but... none of the species have a cloud on crossvein r-m. So I'd be happy to have a look at an actual specimen to see what it yields, but from photo I can only say it is a species I cannot identify.
