Hello,

I photographed this fly near Passo San Nicolò (TN), Italy, 2400m a.s.l. on August 3rd 2023. I think it is an Herina, and assuming I followed the key in Kameneva (2007) correctly, I think the possible options are H. palustris and H. parva. Is my initial identification correct? And is it possible to further narrow-down the ID to species-level?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

It is Herina parva. Merz (1996) gave good pictures, which Kameneva (2007) did not repeat for this reason, so sometimes better to combine.
Herina palustris has long black postpedicel of antenna.
