Hi All

Came across this medium sized hoverfly in a small copse by a river.

The lunate shaped markings suggested Eupodes, Scaeva or Dasysyrphus.
Bare eyes and black hairs along t3 and t4 are apparently diagnostic - Eupeodes.
Looking through Ball & Morris, I couldn't find one with suitable abdomen markings but in Steven Falk's galleries
he has some female E. luniger with lunate markings.

Could someone take a look and confirm, or put me straight please?

Yours, Gareth
