I have seen this asilid a few times in Cabo de Gata in south-east Spain. It is aropximatley 25mm and found on bare, sandy areas with scrub.
I have seen it from September to November. Any ideas?
I do have the specimen if anyone would like to have a better look.
Also does anyone know of any keys for Spanish asilids or a specialist who does them as I have another small Machimus type species that id like to identify.

Mind the file size and don't forget that spaces in the file name are not allowed. Please try to attach the image by editing your original post.
Also not that previewing the message will empty the attachment field (attachments cannot be previewed) and that posting your message then will result in a post without attachment.
