I just looked for the data in the Fauna Europea, but it doesn't look so confidental. X. violacea is common and widespread in Southern Europa, also in Portugal, and in warmer parts of Central Europa (in Germany, it spreads northwards within the last years). But Finnland? X. valga, a similar species is also widespread in the south, but never in Finnland. Also data lacks of many countries. But, the Fauna Europaea was a very special project, and its quality (in Aculeata) is not the best.
