Hi All
An early morning in a woodland ride resulted in a lot of new insect for me. This fly is one of them.
Could someone let me know the ID please?

Thanks for your info.
I have looked into this following your lead.
The only suitable candidate that I can find thathas pale stigma and is known
anywhere near the locale is Rhagio tringarius (Marsh Snipefly).
What do you think?
