these ones seem to dislike flash light - several sitting on a tree trunk, they all flew away after this one photo.

How far is an ID possible? Trichomyia maybe?

Thanks weia - according to Fauna Europaea it comes down to two species:
T. urbica or parvula.

However, there is no T. hardeggensis and T. stephani on that list, the former a species found directly at the border to Austria, and whose habitat description would fit for the specimen I saw.

Would be great if I could find the specimens again, because not a single species from the genus has been reported from Austria yet, as far as I am aware.

Faune Europea hasn't been updated for a very long time and they do not react on mail...

little fun fact to add: although not yet reported from the country, the recently described species T. hardeggensis is named after an Austrian city

additional fun fact: with 86 inhabitants, Hardegg is the smallest city in Austria
