Hi All

In the gloom of some loose woodland / shaded glade I saw two beetles doing what insect do at this time of year.
They appeared to be covered in a blue dust.

On examining the photos I found that the dust appears to be their normal pigmentation but it is not universal at all.
There are patches of blue-green and patches of black.

The male appears to be far smaller than the female. I would have thought that she was no more than 1cm although
my estimation could be wrong.

Could someone please ID for me?

Yours, Gareth
