I have problems identifying this Cheilosia male - somewhere in the key I lost the path.
It was found on 18th May 2021 near the Elbe River, on extensive grassland near a forest edge (Germany, Niedersachsen, L√ľneburg). Size is 9 mm.
Maybe you can help me.

The size and other characters point towards Cheilosia carbonaria, I think.

Many thanks, Karsten!
I think you're right. I've checked all characters now given bei Bot & van de Meutter (2019), and carbonaria fits very well.
