Hello,

a 5 mm fly in our courtyard (northwest Germany) at end of August.

Hi Jürgen, I think it's a male Phyto melanocephala (thorax 3 vittae, petiole on R1).

Thanks a lot, Eric! I was also thinking about Rhinophoridae, but the Calyptrae seemed rather big to me.

Melanomyia is black (check the gallery) and please note the strong apical scutellars and short petiole in wing: Male Phyto melancephala.
