Dear Diptera.info followers,
I would like to submit you this fly that was photographed on coastal sand dunes in the Camargue, southern France, on April 17th, 2020.
So far we don't really know in which familiy to look for, perhaps Canacidae or Helcomyzidae?
Thanks for helping :-)

There is a well-marked transverse suture right across the thorax, so this is a calypterate fly. I would say Neolimnophora (Muscidae)

Thank you very much for your suggestion Tony!
I'd love to know how to separate Neolimnophora virgo from N. maritima :-)

I think this must be maritima, in which there are 3-4 uniform rows of presutural acrostichals. In virgo, there are 2-3 rows, with one pair stronger than the rest.

Many thanks Tony for sorting out the ID!
