In the 2nd half of April I found this pupa below deadwood in a forest in Germany, Saxony. Unfortunately, it did not hatch. Size 9 mm. Is ID possible?

I don't recognize it as a Diptera pupa - it might be worth trying on a Coleoptera site.

Marion - I may have been too hasty in deciding about the pupa - it is very similar to some Tabanidae pupae - possibly
Haematopota. Hopefully someone may recognize it.

Tony, I´ll change the title.
I have found another photo which may be helpful for ID.
The dark stripes on the back could match Tabanidae.
