I'd like to to repeat what I wrote in your Keroplatus thread:
1. The images should have a larger resolution.
2. Search the archive for Macrocera, you will find a lot of helpful information, e.g. a link to a key here: https://www.dipte...d_id=83474. Or, still better, a quite well matching fly: https://diptera.i...d_id=60877.
The archive is a real treasure chest, and it is open to all! Why is it so little used?
Regards, Sundew

1. The images should have a larger resolution. 600 pixels is the limit, no ?
2. Many thanks for link, M. phalerata seems good with the photo and the key (20 Tip of wing broadly dark, other dark areas at apex of RI, in centre of wing and
towards base; wing length 4-5.5mm; a genitalia (fig. 122) ........... phalerata Meigen
)
So, many thanks for all.

The pixels aren't limited as long as the image size does not exceed 302 kB. My pictures usually are about 1100 px. When saving pictures in Photoshop you can reduce the file size by lowering the picture quality from maximal quality (12) downwards as long as the size gets below 302 kB. I use quality 8 or 7. Compared to the original, the loss in quality is barely visible.
