Hello,

from April to October there are always many Medetera at our housewalls and treetrunks in the garden (northwest Germany). Currently they are especially numerous, even pushing on to our stairway, and also visiting the light in the garden, where I could observe them catch and eat other tiny arthropods.

In the literature is often referred to Collembola as the main diet of Medetera, but I never could see them catching a springtail (although there were some).
But I could watch them eating Aphids, Ceratopogonids, Cecidomyiids and even a Dermaptera larva.

I guess, it is really hopeless to get an identification of the Medetera species?

More pictures (with comments in German) could be found here: https://insektenf...dID=110378
