Hi,
This small Tachinid confidingly entered my finger three days ago, and I got the feeling I should know it. My guess is Lydella grisescens, but the erect scutellar apicals are weak and small at best. Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree, so help is appreciated! The location was southwestern Germany, 50 km west of Stuttgart.
Thanks, Sundew

Ah - this is my first Blondelia, so I did not know what to look for. Now I learn that the females have a jagged "saw belly" - interesting! I hope I can recognize the males too - once you wrote that they have red lateral spots on tergite 3 and 4. This character is, however, also found in B. pinivorae https://www.zobod...1-0334.pdf. The key given in that paper should help to exclude that species.
Anyway, thanks for the ID!
