Hello,

is a more detailed determination possible here? May be Bibio femoratus? Size approx. 10 - 12 mm, found on May 21, 21 in Germany, Northern Bavaria, on the house wall.

Thanks and Regards,
Eugen

It is not Bibio femoratus, which is a North American species. The similarly-named European Bibio femoralis flies earlier in the year.

Hi Eugen, to be sure we would need a lateral view, but if it's really 10-12 mm: no idea. If it's smaller we have some characters for johannis: short head, eyes round... But it's more a guess without seeing the lateral view of thorax and abdomen.
