Hello,

I don't really know where to start to find the genus of this fly.
I notice very long bristles on the costa and what looks like a longitudinal keel on tibiae 1 and 2 but I don't know if that helps.
I thought maybe Phora or Megaselia, but I don't know how to tell them apart and confirm a genus ?

Not Phora (which tends to be matt black in colour, and has a more concave occiput). I think this is probably Megaselia, but usually you need a specimen to see all the features required for generic determination.
You can order a copy of Henry Disney's key to British genera (and species other than Megaselia) from
https://www.royen...-megaselia - slightly damaged stock so very low price.
