When I search for pictures of psychodidae it seems they always have their wings spread out, whereas in my pictures the wings are always closed and the appearance is long and narrow?

this closed wing posture is typical for the genus Psychoda.

Psychodidae have wings spread, except for genus Psychoda. There are many species of Psychoda with no markings on the wings, so this is Psychoda spec. Only with very good pictures of the top of the antenna (and genitalia) identification on species level is possible.
