Diptera to identify, possibly a Syrphidae (1 cm of length). Photographed today (2007/11/13) in a lot destined to the construction of houses, in Port of Mazarr?n?Murcia?Spain, closely together of the beach and a torrent. The surrounding plants are: Inula viscosa, Tymaelea hirsuta, Moricandia arvensis, Dorycnium pentaphyllum, Psolearea bituminosa and some gramineas. The zone is quite barren, it has not been raining for 3 weeks previously and it did not rain from April.

Hello!

Here in Germany this would be a male Syritta pipiens, one of the most frequent Syrphids. I don't know if there are other similar species in Spain, though.

Syritta pipiens (male), I think ... and family Syrphidae.
