I found this tiny fly in my living room, and I'm at a loss regarding ID to even family. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Thank you! I'll try to find some keys for the local fauna (all I have are the ones in the MCAD)

Should be (close to?)
Elachiptera

Sabrosky (1948) put the Nearctic species with short scutellum into
Monochaetoscinella and
Melanochaeta. I don't know if there is a good classification of Neotropical Chloropidae.

Thanks! I also reached
Elachiptera using the key in MCAD, but I'm taking it with a large grain of salt since it's for Central America and I'm in central Chile.
