This tachinid (I'm fairly sure, given that it appears to have a well-developed subscutellum) was found in woodland in south Surrey on 28 July. It doesn't match any of the other tachinids I can find with such a long proboscis (namely Prosena and Aphria). If any more photos are needed, do let me know!

Thank you! That fits perfectly. It appears to be S. geniculata due to the lower eye margin reaching the level of the vibrissae and the presence of a strong pair of margins on the first tergite.
