Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Fly or hoverfly ?

never spotted this one before- not sure if it's a fly or hoverfly. Taken in my garden this morning South coast UK- 8.8mm body length
Any ideas ?

Any time you doubt between 'fly' or hoverfly, it's:

Stomorhina lunata (Calliphoridae, 'fly')

Thanks Theo and Jorge for the fast responses :)- this really had me confused - front half looked a bit like a deerfly and the rear half like a drone fly :)
