I want to ask ID of this Empididae. It flew to a light trap 1 hours after sunset. The light trap was conducted near deciduous forest at May 30, 2020.
I am thinking of Empis(Xantempis) sp. but not sure. Any kind of help is appreciated!

Thank you very much! It's really good to have an ID for the species level :)

Not
stercorea from Korea, subgenus is okay.

Probably an undrescribed species. The South Korean (and other Eastern Asian) species were revised
here and there is only one species (
sesqueta) with median vitta and paramedian short fasciae/spots. However, the shape of the paramedian fasciae/spots is different as is the shape of the genitalia.

Thanks for the link to the paper! I'll change the title to Empis(Xanthempis) sp.
I think there has to be more research conducted on Empididae in S.Korea...Though it's a diverse taxon, we only have few species listed in S. Korea yet.
