Hi!

On May 20th, I observed this hover fly on a bush next to a path in vineyards north of Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg. Can it be identified? Thank you very much in advance.

Best wishes
Ina

Hi Ina, I think it's Xanthogramma pedissequum.

hm, why can't this be X. dives? Yellow pleura near the halteres and the wing tip might be darkened (although it is a male).
