Hi,
Today I tapped a
Bibio couple off a
Crataegus shrub. I am quite sure that it is
B. venosus. The long, thin legs made them look rather spider-like. Would you agree? - The location is southwestern Germany, about 20 km west of Stuttgart.
Many thanks, Sundew
Here cames the male (dorsal and ventral side):

Meanwhile I've got serious doubts about the identification of my male from 2009 (
https://diptera.i...d_id=21404). The legs of this are much shorter and thicker, especially the front and hind tibiae. And it is too hairy. What about
B. reticulatus?

Very, very nice indeed and I agree on all parts. The 2009 male is not venosus, so very likely reticulatus.

Fine, thanks! Unfortunately, the "wrong" male went into the gallery...

Ask Paul to fix it.
