Vittae on thorax suggest plebeja / strigata, however, long shot.
Spring or summer ?

By the shape of the frontal callus and the broad, strong stripes: probably
Thereva microcephala. It is a boreomontane species - where did you find this specimen? Flight time is listed as June-August.

The black spot on the frons doesnt reach to the eye - that doesn?t fit to plebeja / strigata. The grey bands at the margin of T3 and T4 are complete - that doesn?t fit to microcephala.
Which species have such distinct grey stripes on the mesoscutum?

Are you sure the grey bands are complete. They look rather interrupted to me, at least on T2 and T4?
Then again, I've been wrong before :p

Dear Kahis!
At least I am quite sure that there has been a complete grey band and the dark spots didn?t reach the back. But I have never seen microcephala and I don?t know how this species looks like. But I have a good starting point and will compare the specimen with microcephala.
Thank you very much for the valuable help!

Kevin Holston also agrees with this being microcephala...
