Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Anthomyiid from Magellan Strait, Chile

These flies were on the ocean beach and walking on a dead crab. The date was 19 December 2018 and the place was Punta Arenas, Chile. The body of water was the Atlantic side of the Magellan Strait.

Ephydridae, is that right? Is it possible to say more about the ID?

Might be a Fucellia sp (Anthomyiidae):

They can be common on beaches.

2 species of Fucellia are known here: maritima and calcoerata.
Your female seems to be F. maritima
