Hello,
In the south of France, on October 7, 2018 on ivy.
Is it possible to specify the species of Anthomyia?

Possibly. I think there is one other species with small lateral spots.

The other one is
A. procellaris on which the two small lateral spots touch each other

I thought I took pictures of the same
Anthomyia!
There are not many on ivy, however, and the pictures are taken a few seconds apart as I followed her with my eyes.
For the black spots near the wings, it seems to me that on both photos, these spots are separated, which would be in the direction of Anthomyia pluvialis.

I did not say the two spécimen were different, I only indicated to John that the other europeen species of Anhomya with two lateral black spots is
A. procellaris !
