I saw this fly yesterday on flowering Ivy. It's a rather big one, size of C. vomitoria. The wing venation is not Tachinid-like, with M1 running straight to the wing edge. Does anyone knwo this fly? Or at least the family/genus?
Amstelveen, the Netherlands. Suburban area, with lots of bushes and trees, but poor in rough land.

Hi Cor.
It is Phaonia, with two possibility - Ph.errans and Ph.valida.
M1 running straight to the wing edge

Really, vein M isn't as straight as usualy in Phaonia, it is slightly curved at very apex. So, I'd say female of
Phaonia valida
